Really really really really really really really…

Cool. Cool things have been happening. We have finally made it north of Missouri, and have been spending our time in Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, and Sheboygan (PS – Every time I say “Sheboygan” I have to do it with a Jerry Lewis accent).

We played Beat Kitchen with friends/incredible artists/generally nice dudes Caw! Caw! and The Mermaids. We played our third and final show with Casiotone for the Painfully Alone at Madison’s Project Lodge, where we also ate some incredible, incredible feta pizza from Brass/Glass Knuckles/Nickels (ask Mark how to say it).

Also! We played at two really really really really really sweet DIY venues in Chicago: Ball Hall and Weirder Park, both of which were hosted by some of our favorite people we’ve met. Do yourself a favor and check out Royal Osprey who played with us at Ball Hall. After Royal Osprey played, I said on the microphone “I want to start a label just to sign those guys” and someone in the crowd yelled “they already have their own label!” to which I replied “then I just want to give them a bunch of money for being awesome.” Which is true. This world needs more quiet bands.

After the bands finished at Ball Hall, there were some short sketches/plays put on by the resident theater kids. One of them started with “So my ex-girlfriend is in the audience tonight…” and I decided that that was my favorite thing I’ve ever heard anyone on stage say ever. I’m going to try to say that at least once every time I play a set for the rest of my life.

A few days later we drove up to beautiful Sheboygan, Wisconsin awww.capybaramusic.comshore of Lake Michigan at our friend Erik’s house during a lovely day of dogs, dog fights, seagulls, and seagull fights. And gold mesh shorts (that one was mostly me (Darin)). Then we caraVAN’d down to Milwaukee to Y-Not to play with Cedarwell (Erik’s band) who is INCREDIBLE. We filmed their performance and will try to get the footage up somewhere, because you NEED TO SEE THIS. Trust us.

Other than that, we have been camping out at New Wave Coffee and eating their delicious sandwiches all day. Also, we’ve been trying to keep a certain dog from eating everything in sight, and at this we have been failing miserably, because this dog has already eaten a bunch of chocolate (!), an ENTIRE LOAF OF BREAD, a bunch of uncooked rice (wtf, dog?), and a ton of sugar. It’s a miracle she isn’t dead. But it’s not a miracle that she puked under a bunch of covers because she wanted to hide it. Ugh.

But things are going well! And even though today our beloved cook/mom/joker/dresser-upper Trish went to L.A., we still have Dave and Liz who are keeping us sane. Shows are on the horizon! We made it to #128 on the CMJ charts! We are filming a bunch of stuff! We have lots of cool stories! Please stay in touch, friends…

It is the 8th of September and you are coming to the Record Bar.

Listen, I get it.

You’ve got a lot to do. You’ve gotta get your (Stella’s) groove back after that nice, long Layber Day weekend. You’ve gotta return that coffee maker with your boyfriend. You’ve gotta get to the bus stop for the time machine (P.S. – easiest way to tell whether you’re waiting for the bus or a time machine: is it late? If the answer is yes, then you are waiting for the bus).

But you’ve also gotta add one more thing to that to-do list of yours. You’re coming to the Record Bar tonight to see us play in Kansas City ONE MORE TIME. We are playing with Receiver. There will also be three sweet DJs, including our good friend Nartan. It starts at 10:00. It will cost you $7. It will be worth it. I promise!

Oh, sorry: as well as in addition to one more thing to add to that to-do list. Watch Bobby Bottleservice:

As a “member” of the “band” “Capybara,” I am often asked how to pronounce our band name. Some people say it “Capy-bear-a” and some people say “Capy-bar-a.” We don’t really care how you say it. But we have been getting that question so often that we came up with a stupid joke answer, and that answer is: “the preferred pronunciation of our band name is Crappyboring.”

Anyway, crappyboring.com now re-directs to the official Capybara site (you are here now). This is not a joke. Try it yourself. Tell your friend.
